LOCKDOWN
D1 VERNAL PLEASURES

Blackbird’s fear song

ripples, beautiful lyrical.

Garden bounds catch

grass flowered flight.

Cat black, green-eyed

lazing, casually gazing.

Cars sleep rusting

verging, long dreaming.

Paired walkers intimate,

sticky whispered talkers.

Imagining a slower place,

gentle graced snail’s pace.

Gathered in radio’s time.

Dial light lifts shadows

in a parlour's gloom.

Closed shops, quiet road,

a Sunday’s long reach.

I… Smith, Butcher, Thatcher.

As dried reeds tame

a season's reason.
